A Family Picture

Jackson acting silly

He sure likes the attention!

Here is a family picture. Sadly Jackson isn't smiling...not sure why.

Isn't she just cute?!

Bath Time

Here are a few pictures from Dixie's first bath at home. She did okay with it. She's just so strong that I am worried about having control when she gets older and stronger! She lifts her head so well. I don't know what she really thought about being naked, we keep her pretty wrapped up most of the time. So far we are just enjoying every moment with her...well maybe not the middle of the night crying times. :) But really she is a great baby and those nights are far and few between. We just love our little girl.

Here she is finally with a diaper on. I just adore her!

New Pics of Dixie

I have a friend who lives a few doors down who is really into photography. I asked her to take some pictures of Dixie and she gladly agreed. She came over this morning and took some and told me it could be a while before she got them back to me. Well today being a holiday, her husband was home and able to watch her son so she got the pictures edited and done. Here are a few of my favorites.

She's Here!

Well I am finally getting around to posting about Dixie. I can't believe she is finally here! We went into the doctor on Thursday and I was progressing a bit more. The doctor said she could come at any time. Throughout that day I was feeling more contractions and thought she might even come that day! Friday morning we headed to the hospital. We got there the same time as another couple. She was dilated the same as me (a 4) so the competition was on. Paul and I are both competitive so it was a fun challenge (like I really had any control!). We both had the same labor and delivery nurse so she was keeping us updated on how we were progressing. She got her epidural before me. I figured that I could handle more pain, but why? I had to pay for it in the end anyways. :) Might as well be pain free for most of the labor.
Paul was facinated by the procedure. He was proud of me that I didn't cry at all. And let me tell you, when they poke you to do the local antisethic, that sucker is painful. I started laughing instead cause the tears were about to come! He was telling me how big the needle was and how well the guy did putting it in. It was great! 20 minutes later I wasn't feeling much of anything. It was nice. We spent the rest of the morning talking as I waited for her to come. At about 2, our nurse came in to say the other girl was fully dilated and effaced and was ready to go. She checked me and turns out I was too. However, it was the other girl's second baby so she got to deliver first. :( But she also went from a 6 to a 10 in 20 minutes. I was ahead of her. So then I got to wait 2 more hours "resting and decending" which basically meant we were waiting for Dixie to get into position. Around 3:30 I started to get agitated cause no one had come to check or give us updates. Plus I hadn't eaten all day and I was HUNGRY! I was ready to have her and eat a ton of food. Turns out we had to wait for the doctor to finish out some appointments at his office. He got there around 4:30, but the nurse came in first to start me on the pushing. He came in at about 4:45 or 5 and I continued to push. At 5:20pm, our little angel was born.
I never knew I could love someone as quickly as I did her. She was perfect. Big and beautiful and the love of my life! She had some junk in her lungs so the resperatory therapist was working on her. He weighed her and measured her. She weighed in at 8 lbs 14 oz and 22 inches! No wonder I was so uncomfortable. Mind you, this baby was a week early too! As the therapist was working with her, he put her on her tummy and turned her head to help her try to work out the junk. Immediately she did a push up and lifted her head to look around! Everyone was amazed, never having seen a newborn do that since that is typical for a 2 month old. She did a lot of stretching in the womb, so maybe she just built up those muscles. That or she's just a determined little girl. It could be genetic too. Paul's dad told him he did the same thing when he was born. She's definitely his little girl.
We both are doing very well and are home now. It was nice to sleep in my own bed. The boys are not quite sure what to think of this little thing that smells different, makes all kinds of noise and takes our attention away from them. I'm sure they will adjust though. I will post some pictures later.
