Dixie

Today is a great day at the McBee house! I got to FINALLY do Dixie's hair! Here's a few pictures to prove it.

The front view...no changes really but there's my cute girl.

Two little buns in the back. We'll see how long it lasts. By the time we got to the babysitter I had to re-do it. Hopefully we can just keep practicing with the little bit of hair she has.

Life

I've been in a contemplating mood lately I think and finally want to get some things down. There have been a few tough times around the McBee home lately. At times I feel overwhelmed and wonder if things will change, get better, the challenges will stop...etc. Other times I feel confident and feel peace that this is only a moment in time. I feel like, yes, I can do it. Today was an okay day. Work wasn't especially tough or busy with the exception of a few things. But what meant a lot to me was a reconnection with an old friend. We did a lot of chatting over text. And that's not always the way you want to reconnect with people, but when you are both working, it works. It's such a comfort to know that I have such great friends. That after years of not talking, we are right back where we were...just like that. We're there for each other. And besides that great experience, I had another connection with yet another great friend. It's nice to know that Heavenly Father has allowed me to cross paths with so many wonderful people. Even though we are having a rough patch as a family and we have each other to lean on, it's nice to know there is even more support there for us. What's funny is, the people I have reconnected with don't even read this blog. I'm not sure many people do read it, but I'm glad to have a place to dialogue feelings. So thanks friends and family, those that read this and those that don't. You definitely "stand in the office which I have appointed unto you; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees" (D&C 81:5). Thank you for being my support and strength without even knowing exactly how much that means to me and my family.

Saying Prayers

When I was in college I would often travel to Ogden with whatever siblings happened to be at school with me at the time. Our favorite place to stay? Uncle Jim and Aunt Marsha's. One thing that I loved that they do is hold hands while praying at the dinner table. This is something I carried into my own family. When Jackson is with us it makes a circle and I love the symbolism in that. We haven't really tried to hold Dixie's hand too often as she usually pulls away. But something she DOES do is fold her arms. I've never seen a child as young as her just simply fold her arms when it's prayer time. She started doing it about 6 months ago. I've been pondering it lately because it's not something she's learned from us doing since we hold hands. It's amazing to me that she simply knows what to do when it's prayer time. Of course this is only the case during meals at our house. Church or otherwise usually she's trying to talk or escape or whatever else she can do. But it's been on my mind, therefore, felt I should share.
